Bullying at Work: What it is and how to Stop it
WHAT’S AT STAKE
When most of us hear the term bully or bullying we probably think back to the school bully of our childhood, or the all too frequent news stories of kids being bullied at school or even cyberbullying. Unfortunately, some people never grow out of being a bully and bullying at work takes place more often than you might think.
WHAT’S THE DANGER?
Workplace bullying is repeated, unreasonable actions of a person or group, directed towards an employee or group of employees, meant to intimidate, degrade, threaten, or undermine performance. The bully can be a manager, a coworker, or any other employee, vendor or even a customer. Bullying is disruptive behavior that can physically and mentally harm the victim and put the entire workplace at risk.
